Marathon Manager

Pace a 42.2 km race. Three courses, one finish line.

About Marathon Manager

Manage a fictional 42.2 km marathon in your browser. Balance pace, energy and water, unlock three courses, and beat your best finishing time. Free to play.

How to play Marathon Manager

Manage a fictional 42.2 km race in two-kilometer stages. Choose an easy, steady or fast pace and decide whether to drink. Easy pace restores energy, while fast pace uses more. Water is refilled every ten kilometers. Keep energy and hydration above zero to finish. Finish the City Loop to unlock River Hills, then Sunset Coast. This is a strategy game, not training or hydration advice.

A strategy game for Chicago Marathon season

The 2026 Chicago Marathon takes place on October 11. If race season has you thinking about pacing, Marathon Manager gives you a compact fictional challenge: decide how much energy to spend on each stage and reach the finish with something left. Its City Loop, River Hills and Sunset Coast courses are original game settings, not recreations of the Chicago course. Game energy and water values are not training or hydration guidance.

Tips for your next attempt

A fast early stage is not always a fast finish. Keep a reserve for hills, use easy stages to recover energy, and plan your bottles around the ten-kilometer refill points. Once you finish, replay the same course and compare your time.

A familiar game, a quick refresher.

  1. Build the four foundations. Place aces in the top-right spaces, then build up to kings in the same suit.
  2. Alternate colors on the table. Place a red 6 on a black 7, for example. You can move an entire face-up sequence.
  3. Make room for kings. Only a king, or a sequence starting with one, can move to an empty column.
  4. Turn over a new card. Click the face-down deck. When it runs out, click again to recycle. You can go through it as often as you like.

Keyboard: Tab to a card and press Enter to select it. Tab to the destination and press Enter again. Escape clears your selection. You can also drag cards.

Deals are random; some cannot be won. Hints suggest legal moves, not a guaranteed solution.
